How it Works

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Lighthouse. Before reviewing the different roles that you can serve in, take a few moments and read our 2010 Sample Support Letter, 2010 Covenant and Retreat Guidelines. Listed below are different ways that you can serve as a volunteer. Please note if you are interested in serving at a retreat, and you have not been approached by Lighthouse staff to serve in a leadership role, you will be serving as a Family Partner.

Family Partners:
Prior to serving at a retreat you will attend two Pre-Retreat team meetings with your Family Partner Coordinator(s). The first meeting will be one month before your retreat and the second will be the week before your retreat begins. After the retreat begins, serving as a Family Partner, you will be paired with a retreat family and given duties to help care for that family’s needs. Family Partners anticipate the needs of their family and meet them before their own. Some of your responsibilities will include: greeting the family when they arrive, answering
questions, carrying bags, cleaning, helping children through the meal lines and serving the family so that they are free to focus on each other and have fun. Family Partners will also be assigned to a breakfast, lunch, or dinner team. Kitchen teams are responsible for helping prepare the meals and cleaning up afterwards.

All volunteers are asked to raise $750 / per adult and $250 / per child to cover retreat expenses. Ages 20 and older are considered an adult and are asked to raise $750 even if you are serving with your parents.

If you are interested in serving with a small group or school team that you lead or coach, please contact our office for information on guidelines, support etc.
